Meet the Team

Jeanie Cole

I was excited to take Rooted as I went through

the grieving process of losing my 92-year-old

mother, whom I had the privilege to hold her hand

till she drew her last breath. I never felt closer to

God as HE took her home while I was holding on..

I needed, in the words of Jim Cymbala,

a “Fresh Wind and a Fresh Fire”!

Lois Upton and Lisa Spidle were my teachers,

and I will be ever grateful for the time I had to

sit at their feet as they spoke into my life.

I had the privilege to take the reins as we formed

a Life Group. Sharing the word with this incredible

group of women has humbled me. It has taught me

more about myself. Sometimes, I may not have

wanted to hear, but I needed to go through it for

growth to take place. My walk with God has grown

as I continue to fall and get back up only by being

pulled up by HIS Faithful, strong right hand!

Lavon Domas

My name is Lavon Domas, I am 75yrs old. I am a snowbird from Michigan. My husband and I split our time between Michigan and Arizona. We have been married 60 years in September.  We have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Our son and 2 grandchildren live in Michigan and daughter and son-in-law and 3 grandchildren here in Az. I retired in 1998 from Ford Mo. Co. with 35 yrs of service. I have been a Christian since I was a teenager always raised in church. My mother was the biggest influence in my life.  I wanted a relationship with God like she had and I'm  still working on it.

I was attending another church and went back to Mi for summer, I flew back to AZ for a couple of weeks staying with my daughter. I was on my way to church one Sunday and went passed Compass church, I think God told me to turn into the church and was right on time for service. I fell in love with the worship, sermon, and communion service. IWAS HOME. I joined Rooted to have a closer relationship with God, and meet new people to have fellowship with. It was a great experience and have enjoyed the bible studies with our group. It is a little challenging for me because I miss a lot of the things that they do because I am not there, but they always try to keep in informed. Our leader is amazing very encouraging and her love for God just bubbles out of her. I am very blessed and would encourage others to get connected. It keeps me grounded.

I joined Rooted (Woo Hoo!) a few years ago while I was volunteering at Guest Central. So many people were stopping by asking about the program and I wanted to be able to tell them first-hand what it was all about. My plan was to dip my toe into the pool of Rooted and help others get connected. Little did I know that God had other plans. I took a deep-dive into my walk with God and met some amazing women along the way. I’ve built life-long relationships with women I am proud to call my sisters. Such an amazing and life-changing class. I look forward to what God has in store for our group next!

I am a Blessed Mother of two daughters and five Grandchildren, for whom I moved back to Arizona to love on and help care for my grandson with special needs.  I have lived in some beautiful areas and worked as a designer, realtor and contributed to building homes and various other structures.
After moving back to Arizona, it only took one service at Compass Church to know I was home.  Our Church has led me to take various classes, ongoing Bible studies, Rooted, serve experiences and our Life Group. These interactions and studies has led me to amazing, supportive and knowledgeable Sisters and Brothers in Christ.
Most importantly, from the study of God’s word and continuing to grow closer to GOD,  along with the support of our Life Group, I strive daily to serve and be more Christlike.

I was a member at Compass a few years before Rooted came along.  My friends who had taken it really encouraged me to do so also.  I did, and found that class to become very impactful on my whole life--certainly changing me.  It brought together so many missing links and enabled me to overcome so much misunderstanding I often experienced.  I was overcome with awe to learn I really had a Holy Spirit that lived within me!!

One of the girls that was in Rooted class formed a Life Group and I have continued there to study the Bible and be part of this group.  I truly believe taking time to study with others and learn about the Bible is one of the most important and rewarding things one can do.  Certainly, it has brought me the most peace and joy!!!  I remain so very thankful to all the people at Compass, especially the pastor, Brian Jobe, and my Life Group leader, Jeanie Cole and the Golden Gleaner leader Dale Blankenship.  Compass--its programs and people remain such a wonderful  blessing to me.

Marie McCadden

Marie was born in Mississippi (still has the accent to prove it) but spent most of her adult life in the Valley.  After attending many churches, Marie still lacked any real knowledge of the bible and more importantly, she hadn’t found a relationship with her Lord and Savior.
Marie’s long-time friend Betty Burman had been attending Compass Church for a while and was very happy and content with the church’s teachings.  Marie decided to join Betty for a Sunday service and hasn’t left Compass.
Marie also attended Sunday School each week.  The class was taught by Dale Blankenship and Marie learned so much about the Bible and Jesus while attending.  In addition, Marie developed close and lasting friendships with other attendees.
In addition to Sunday School, Marie began attending the Life Groups offered through Compass. This is where Marie really learned to understand and appreciate the Bible and developed more friendships with sisters-in-Christ.  In addition, Marie developed the most Important relationship in her life, one with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
You’ll often find Marie greeting folks at Compass on Sunday mornings and handing out programs and smiles.  Stop by and say hello the next time you’re at Compass!

I started coming to CCC almost 4 years ago. My first Sunday they were having a newcomers lunch. They were talking about rooted and I thought if I really want to move forward with this church then I need to jump in all the way! So I did ... I started Rooted and I learned so much about God, myself and where I wanted to go with my life with Jesus!
From there I joined the life group that we formed with our Rooted ladies Jeanie is our leader and our life group was modeled after rooted so every book that we studied we would have a prayer experience and a service experience .
I pretty quickly joined the welcome team and the newcomers luncheon team.
Our church is so welcoming and inviting!
I've never been in such a big church that makes every one feel so welcome. Even our senior pastor Brian is out front greeting and making everyone feel special and known! You immediately feel that you belong!

Angie Figueroa

My name is Angie Figueroa, I decided to take Rooted to become closer to God,  learn more of him and to begin a grounded spiritual journey.

I joined the life group in 2018 when my family and I moved to Arizona from California. I wanted to connect with group of women who love on the Lord like I do. When I joined the group I had no idea that it would have such a great impact on me and my family let alone the way that the Lord would use me to impact others. I am excited to continue to see where and how God will use me, and I am ready!

Elena Amour

My name is Elena Amour and I moved to Arizona from California in April 2017. I had a large church family in California so leaving was difficult, but necessary at the time. I attended a few different churches here in Arizona before finding Compass and the life group. Things have changed so much since finding my life group. I have a tight knit group of sisters I can rely on for anything. We have all been through ups and downs together, and knowing that I have women I go to and be honest with about anything has made the challenges of life so much easier. Also, knowing that I have sisters in Christ who are constantly praying for me keeps me hopeful no matter what I face. I am so grateful that God put these beautiful women in my life, and I hope I bring them as much joy as they bring me.

What made me decide to enroll in Rooted, is that I was seeking to build and cultivate a deeper relationship with God. I also attended services prior to signing up for the program and the elevated whooooos and screams from the people who had attended did draw an impact. lol I knew it was something special.

My life since has been exactly what I was seeking preRooted and more.  I was able to get baptized at the end of the program. I joined a life-group and have made long-lasting friendships that have been so beneficial in my life. The fellowship and learning aspect of reading the gospel with one another and bouncing back ideas and thoughts is something I look forward to every week. I remember feeling very sad to have to move from Arizona and missing our gatherings. However, on a positive note since the pandemic began last year, I am able to zoom in weekly. I realized that maintaining that relationship with God is so needed for spiritual growth. My hope is that more Christian institutions adopt Rooted into their programs. I will always remember my experience with Rooted and be grateful to God for its 9 weeks of spiritual awakening.

Several years ago, my husband and I took a Rooted Class and met  so many amazing people in our class.  We had a deeper understanding of how we should study the Bible and a real insight to some very smart Bible educated people.   I joined Dale Blankenship’s small group on Sunday morning and have enjoyed all his bible knowledge and education I receive.  Then a Tuesday morning bible study at the church and now Jeanie Cole who is fabulous!  Although I grew up in the church and knew bible stories, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, attended Bible Studies, I realized how “uneducated” I was in the bible.   In over 70 years I have NEVER been asked to pray aloud in any of these adult classes until now.  It is still very difficult for me.  I am happy and give praises for all I have learned at Compass with Pam Peake, Dale Blankenship and Jeanie Cole’s bible study.

"My name is Marly Thompson.
I am Colombian and moved to the US 10 years ago and met Jeanie Cole in 2018 in a Church meeting for kids ministry volunteers at Compass Church. I feel inspired that the LORD staged this moment and place to put us together and start to bring into reality HIS purpose connecting two worlds in one spirit; to be the hands and feet of our Master JESUS helping Churches and communities in need in Colombia.
I feel inspired and challenged with Jeanie as a leader because of her tenacity and dependence on the LORD working so hard to accomplish HIS plan for this ministry. I feel honored to be part of this beautiful group of ladies that make The Potters Hands & Feet an excellent opportunity to show the love of GOD in such a fantastic way, and we are here to serve as instruments for HIS glory".
